Music by Albéniz, Barrios, de Falla, Granados a.o.
Georg Gulyás, guitar.
Georg Gulyás has studied at the Julliard School of Music in New York and at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. Gulyás has appeared as a soloist with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and the Bartók Radio in Budapest. On his debut album on Proprius Gulyás plays guitar music from Latin America and Spain. The CD opens with Albéniz’ famous flamenco inspired "Asturias". The CD also contains pieces by other Spanish composers such as Granados, Falla and Rodrigo. The two Latin American composers represented are Augustin Barrios and Alberto Ginastera. Barrios "Vals No 3" is a charming and melancholic little waltz and the record ends with Ginasteras technically demanding "Sonata para guitarra, Op 47".
The recording is made by Bertil Alfving (the famous Cantate Domino-producer).
